Arlecchino
The smarter of the servants, Arlecchino's character was of a cunning liar, thief or drunkard. For all his devious antics, Arlecchino never thought before he acted or, if he had bothered to think, forgot it the moment it was out of sight.

Much of the impromptu entertainment would come from his antics, especially as much of his movement was acrobatic and slapstick in nature, combined with his political satire. His movement was jerky or twitchy, moving around the stage in an almost dance-like manner.

His costume was originally of tatty material with random patches - this developed in to the diamonds on today's Harlequin costume.
